Make time to apply for scholarships.
When beginning college, the most important thing that you can do financially to start off on the right foot is apply for as many scholarships as you can. Although this may seem difficult to keep up with throughout the year, it will be worth it. When everyone else is stressed out about how they are going to pay off a ton of loans, you will be relaxed knowing that you won’t have any, or not as many, loans to pay off. College can be one of the most stressful times of your life. You will be trying to juggle getting good grades, making new friends, and most likely having a job. It may seem like you have no time to work on scholarship applications. However, you cannot let yourself be convinced that you have absolutely no time to fill these applications out at the moment, and you will do it later. Chances are, later will never come. Making the time to fill out scholarship applications is the most important financial decision that you can make during your college life. When you graduate from college, you want to feel relaxed and excited to start your new career. When you are swimming in loans that need to be paid off, there will be no excitement. You may be stuck paying off loans for the rest of your life, because of 4 years out of your long life. Because you were too lazy to fill out scholarship applications during college, it will affect your happiness later. Although borrowing a loan may not seem like that big of a deal now, it will seem like a huge deal later when they all add up. Make the smart choice and make time for one of the most important decisions in your life, scholarships!
